Goodman describes how free markets and competition help lower prices and improve care for certain medical procedures. In one example, prices for knee replacements came down after an insurance carrier told their patients that they could only go to certain hospitals, where the cost was significantly lower. Soon, other hospitals lowered their costs for similar procedures.
