Can Social Safety Net Be “Marketized” for Quality, Affordable Care?
Friday, January 22, 2021

Joe Biden has taken office and he has promised to “protect and build on Obamacare.” What does that mean for the average American? What do we really know about Biden's health plan?

This event features Independent Institute Executive Director Dr. Graham H. Walker and Independent Senior Fellow Dr. John C. Goodman, who examine the key challenging aspects of Biden's plan, his public health plan for the pandemic and how “Obamacare 2.0” ("Bidencare") might look. They also discuss the Independent Institute's path-breaking book by Dr. Goodman, "New Way to Care: Social Protections that Put Families First."

In "New Way to Care," Dr. Goodman offers a bold but practical, market-based strategy for giving Americans more control and security over their own finances and destiny, and at far less expense. What if there were a better way to help families protect themselves from life’s risks? And what if that way did not require bloated government bureaucracies, increased taxes, and runaway spending and debt?
