Existing government programs intended to combat crime have shown very little success. Indeed, the rise in the rates of all types of crimes indicates that such programs may well be counterproductive. In this study, the authors contrast the social culture in high crime nations like the United States with the culture found in low crime nations such as Switzerland. The authors conclude that the best methods of reducing crime can be found in strengthening families and communities through privatization and economic liberalization.
