In the wake of the recent scandal surrounding the bribing of college staff to admit students who are underqualified, Sr. Fellow Richard Vedder, author of the upcoming book Restoring the Promise: Higher Education in America is interviewed on the nationally syndicated Lars Larson radio show. Not surprised by the revelations of bribery, Vedder describes how colleges and universities have been playing favorites for years in admissions. Students should be admitted based on merit, he argues, not on athletic ability or donations from rich parents.
