Michael A. Morrisey

Michael A.Morrissey is Director of the Lister Hill Center for Health Policy and Co-Director of the Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington (UW), and he has been Lecturer in the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, Senior Economist and Assistant Director of the Hospital Research and Educational Trust, Senior Economist at the Hospital Research Center of the American Hospital Association, and Visiting Research Scientist at the Battelle Human Affairs Research Centers.

He is the recipient of the President's Excellence in Teaching Award (UAB), Distinguished Faculty Investigator Award (UAB), John D. Thompson Young Investigator Award for Outstanding Health Services Research (UW), and James T. Hall Prize in Public Finance.

A contributor to numerous scholarly volumes and journals, Professor Morrisey's books include Price Sensitivity in Health Care:Implications for Health Policy, Cost-Shifting in Health Care: Separating Rhetoric from Evidence, Managed Care and Changing Health Care Markets, and Health Insurance.
