Research Fellow Robert Whaples, editor of Pope Francis and the Caring Society appears on A Closer Look on Relevant Radio with host Shelia Liaugminas. Whaples discusses the dialogue Pope Francis called for in his 2015 encyclical. The Pope's upbringing in Argentina has formed his economic beliefs, but according to Whaples, the surest way to shrink poverty is to unleash a free market along with a strong cultural and political system which reminds people of the moral decisions we make everyday as consumers.
