Government behind the Wheel: More a Matter of Politics Than of Economics

Did politics influence which car dealerships were closed when President Obama’s automobile task force restructured the auto industry? A 2009 study that looked at closures and car dealers’ political contributions found no evidence of bias, but a new study that measures political influence more directly reaches a different conclusion.
