Spontaneous Order

For the past two decades, political theorists have neglected the theory of spontaneous order, that is, the social coordination that arises unintentionally from the interactions of free individuals. This theory can be revived—and improved upon—by focusing not on how spontaneous orders arise, but on how they perform under new conditions, such as when individuals change their preferences and beliefs.
