Exposing Socialism

The Case for Freedom, Prosperity, and Human Dignity

About Exposing Socialism

Socialism has been tried, tested, and repeatedly found wanting. Yet it continues to captivate new generations seeking answers to economic uncertainty and social challenges. Independent’s Exposing Socialism Project brings together books, research, educational resources, events, and original scholarship that examine socialism’s record in theory and practice—and make the positive case for a society rooted in liberty, free enterprise, and human flourishing.

About the Project

Exposing Socialism is an initiative of the Independent Institute dedicated to examining one of the darkest and most consequential ideologies of the modern era. Through books, original research, educational curricula, public events, and multimedia resources, the project explores the historical record of socialism—and, by contrast, the enduring principles of a free society.

Our aim is both analytical and constructive. We investigate why systems built on central economic planning so often produce scarcity, stagnation, and diminished opportunity, while also highlighting the institutions that have generated unprecedented prosperity and improved living standards around the world. Drawing from economics, history, political philosophy, and firsthand experience, we seek to provide a serious yet accessible resource for students, educators, policymakers, journalists, and engaged citizens.
