Watching You: Systematic Federal Surveillance of Ordinary Americans

Abstract

Federal data collection empowers the United States government to obtain personal information about every American citizen: the checks he writes, the types of causes he supports, what he says “privately” to his doctor. The result—and often the purpose—is a profound erosion of individual autonomy.
