Liberalism and the Common Good
A Hayekian Perspective on Communitarianism

The recent attack on modern liberalism by communitarianism has caught the attention of many political theorists. The insights of F. A. Hayek prove especially helpful in understanding what is at stake in the communitarian/liberal debate. Hayeks classical liberalism scarcely resembles the rationalistic, rights-based claims of modern liberalism and is at least partly sympathetic to communitarianisms vision of the good society.
