Both Austrian School economist Ludwig von Mises and Catholic theologian and philosopher Dietrich von Hildebrand served in the army during World War I, fled Europe during the rise of National Socialism, and ended up teaching at universities in New York City. Their courage, originality, intellects, and profound works still provide much wisdom and inspiration.
