Stephen G. Post is Professor of Preventive Medicine and Director of the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics at Stony Brook University Canada and a member of the Board of Advisors for the Center on Culture and Civil Society at the Independent Institute. He received his Ph.D. in biology from the University of Chicago.
Professor Post is President of the Institute for Research on Unlimited Love—Altruism, Compassion, Service; and has been Professor in the School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University; Senior Research Scholar at the Becket Institute of St. Hugh’s College, Oxford University; Senior Fellow in the Center for the Study of Law and Religion at Emory University; Senior Advisor for the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania; Member of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia; University Fellow and a preceptor in the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago; Member of the International Society for Science and Religion at Cambridge University; Hastings Center Fellow; Senior Scholar in the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University; and Co-founder of the Bioethics Network of Ohio. He is also the recipient of the Hope in Healthcare Award, Kama Book Award in Medical Humanities from World Literacy Canada, and Ohio Humanities Council “Top-Notch” Speaker Award.
He is the author of 150 articles in scholarly journals, is a contributor to numerous volumes, and was Editor-in-Chief of the third edition of the five-volume Encyclopedia of Bioethics.
