Having received his Ph.D. in economics at Columbia University, he served as Instructor at City College of New York, Senior Analyst for the William Volker Fund, Associate of the University Seminar in the History of Legal and Political Thought at Columbia University, Consultant to the U.S. Commission on Gold, and Professor of Economics at the Polytechnic Institute of New York.

Founding editor of the Journal of Libertarian Studies and the Review of Austrian Economics, Dr. Rothbard contributed to more than thirty volumes and wrote hundreds of articles and reviews for both scholarly and popular journals.
