The Independent Review: The Best of the First 30 Years

Whaples (Independent Institute Senior Fellow, and professor of economics at Wake Forest University), celebrates the highest caliber of scholarship by the world’s leading experts.

Another landmark essay is Nobel Laureate James Buchanan’s “The Soul of Classical Liberalism.” By grounding liberty in both personal responsibility and mutual respect, Buchanan reminds readers that classical liberalism is ultimately a philosophy of morality and hope as much as of freedom.
