Don Lavoie

Don Lavoie, who died of pancreatic cancer at age fifty, is an underappreciated economist. Lavoie made significant contributions to comparative economic systems, philosophy of science, computer science and social theory. Among his key insights was that the creative powers of a free civilization are the greatest threat to the ideology of power and privilege and that the practice of planning is nothing but the militarization of the economy.
