Contrary to Ira Sharkansky’s suggestion, Reuveny’s original article (“The Last Colonialist: Israel in the Occupied Territories since 1967”), used the concept colonialism exclusively as a tool for empirical analysis of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, not to assign blame. A deconstruction of Sharkansky’s emotional and sometimes-inflammatory critique reinforces the finding that Israel is in fact a colonialist state.

This article is a response to “Colonialism or Something Else? A Comment of Rafael Reuveny’s Analysis”, an article by Ira Sharkansky.
