The Conservative-Liberal Alliance Against Freedom
By Jefferson M. Fish
This article appeared in the Fall 2005 issue of The Independent Review

Abstract

Libertarian conservatives and civil liberties liberals share an interest in promoting individual freedom, whereas social conservatives and social liberals increasingly share a hostility toward personal freedom in the United States. If predominantly male social conservatives want to limit freedom in order to attack drug use and immorality, predominantly female social liberals want to limit freedom in order to protect women and children.
