Libertarian conservatives and civil liberties liberals share an interest in promoting individual freedom, whereas social conservatives and social liberals increasingly share a hostility toward personal freedom in the United States. If predominantly male social conservatives want to limit freedom in order to attack drug use and immorality, predominantly female social liberals want to limit freedom in order to protect women and children.
