Does Hayek Speak to Asia?
By Chandran Kukathas
This article appeared in the Winter 2000 issue of The Independent Review

Abstract

Although F. A. Hayek did not tailor his message to Asia, the noted social philosopher has much to offer the continent. The Asian road to freedom and prosperity, his work suggests, is found best not by blindly following in the West’s footsteps, but by letting ordinary people adjust to their circumstances, based on their own knowledge and traditions.
