The media-fueled worship of Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan continued throughout the 1990s even though some of his most celebrated pseudoprofundities represented blatant reversals of views he had expressed just months earlier. Greenspans dismal economic performance and fallacy-laden crusade against the deflation bogeyman suggest that the appropriate nickname for him isnt Maestro, but Master of Illusion.
