Independent Institute Unveils OnPower.org
New Website Highlights Growth and Span of Government and “War Crises”

OAKLAND, CA — The Independent Institute today unveiled its new website, OnPower.org, a site dedicated to the study of the nature, growth, span and use of government, especially during “war crises.”

“This new website will be a one-stop resource on key issues, as the current administration pursues a policy of preemptive war, global interventionism and domestic intelligence failure, deception, trampling on the Bill of Rights, pork, protectionism, and corporate welfare,” says David Theroux, founder and president of the Independent Institute. “Are Americans safer and freer? Is the world? And at what cost? With this website, journalists, students, scholars, policymakers and Internet surfers will be a point-and-click away from knowing.”

OnPower.org is broken down into four categories:

  • Crises and power (civil liberties, constitution and Bill of Rights, corporate welfare, culture, defense, economy, government power and politics);
  • History (Civil War, progressive era, World War I, Great Depression, World War II, Cold War, Gulf Wars and war on terrorism)
  • Foreign Policy (blowback, development and aid, intelligence, interventionism, non-interventionism, protectionism and the regional influence of Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North America; and
  • Over 450 quotes over government power by authors, scholars and political leaders.

OnPower.org is a program of the Independent Institute’s Center on Peace & Liberty, directed by Ivan Eland and founded to study the war on terrorism, the war in Iraq, civil liberties and other post 9-11 war-related issues.
