The authors discuss their work together and how they came to write about T.R.M. Howard. Howard was a civil rights pioneer who inspired people such as Medgar Evers, Rosa Parks and others. His Mississippi home was the unofficial headquarters for witnesses and attorneys in the 1955 trial for the murder of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old black boy. After the acquittal by an all-white jury, Howard gave many speeches to large crowds about the trial and the racial inequality in the south. Howard was also a physician, entrepreneur and big game hunter.
