In the 1930's in Germany, the misuse of records resulted in the confiscation of weapons from Jews and other "enemies of the state." The Nazi party was able to consolidate power using the gun registration records of the Weimar republic. Stephen Halbrook speaks about the importance of the Second Amendment protections to prevent such actions in the U.S. today.
