J. P. Moreland
J. P. Moreland

J. P. Moreland is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy in the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University and a member of the Board of Advisors for the Center on Culture and Civil Society at the Independent Institute. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Southern California.

With degrees in philosophy, theology, and chemistry, Professor Moreland is a Member of the Executive Committee for the Evangelical Philosophical Society; Fellow of the Wilberforce Forum; and a Member of the Executive Committee for the Society of Christian Philosophers. He has been Associate Professor, Chesapeake Theological Seminary; Associate Professor, Grace Discovery Center; Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Towson State University; Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Western Maryland College; Professor of Philosophy, Liberty University; Visiting Professor, Christ College Irvine; Visiting Professor, Simon Greenleaf School of Law; and Visiting Professor, International College.

Among his awards, Professor McClay is the recipient of the Rollin Thomas Chafer Award in Christian Apologetics; Academic Excellence Award, International School of Theology; Oakley Fellow at the University of Southern California; Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Christian Studies; Fellow of the Interdisciplinary Biblical Research Institute; OutstandiLiberty University; Senior Class Professor of the Year, Biola University; University Faculty Award for Excellence in Academic Disciplines, Biola University; and Robert Fischer Faculty Member of the Year Award, Biola University. His work appears in such publications as Christianity Today, Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, and The American Philosophical Quarterly. Dr. Moreland served with Campus Crusade for 10 years, planted two churches, and has spoken on more than 200 college campuses.
