BART and San Francisco officials held a press conference to announce results of a survey in which BART riders say San Francisco’s Civic Center station has improved its safety and cleanliness. Independent Institute Senior Fellow Lawrence McQuillan, author of the California Golden Fleece Report "Crime, Grime, and Greed at BART" says the transit agency needs to focus on customers’ needs to bring people back. He says the survey doesn’t reflect that BART’s overall culture has changed.
